Gainesville police arrest attempted murder suspect

The Gainesville Police Department arrested a juvenile for attempted murder on  September 26th and for firing multiple rounds into an apartment on June 18th after he turned  himself in to officers on September 30th.

The incident on September 26th occurred in the Subway parking lot at 1005 W. University Avenue.  

On September 30th, at approximately 1:21 AM, GPD officers responded to the 4900 block of NW 20th Street (Sorrento) in response to calls of shots fired and a report of two suspects attempting to break into an apartment.

The victims in the apartment were not hurt during the incident. One bullet struck one of the victim’s room  window. Another victim returned fire at the suspects during the incident. It is unknown if either suspect was  injured. Detectives located multiple shell casings and bullet fragments in the roadway in front of the residence,  in the driveway, near the front door, and also inside the residence. GPD detectives are following up on several  leads concerning the suspects. The suspects have not been located at this time.
