Hurricane Season 2020: Resources to keep on hand as Isaias approaches

With tropical storms currently forming in the Atlantic Ocean, now is the time to sign up for the City of Gainesville’s emergency alert program, AlertGNV.

Visit safeGNV.org to opt-in for notifications by phone or email. The alerts provide critical information to help neighbors protect themselves, their loved ones and their property when natural disasters are imminent or in progress, and in the event of other unexpected occurrences such as road closures.

When a large-scale storm threatens the area, the city’s Emergency Operations Center will open and together with all city departments, coordinate the preparedness, response and recovery activities of the City of Gainesville.

Teams in the Public Works Department serve as first responders to assess and address storm related damage to public roadways, and encourage all neighbors to use these reporting tools following a storm:

To report an emergency, please call 911.
Report any storm-related issues such as flooding, blocked streets, etc. online at www.myGNV.org, or use the myGNV mobile app available for download at www.myGNV.org. To report issues by phone, please call 352-334-5070.
Submit photos online of flooded areas using the Flood Reporter app at floodreporter.gnvgis.org. A flood event map of photos, drainage service requests, work order information and high water elevations will be produced and shared online after the storm. The flood event map also will be used to identify locations where future capital improvement projects may be needed.
