Funded in part by local and federal dollars, Gainesville leaders will break ground on the 22-unit Jessie’s Village at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 215 SE 21st St.
The apartments, built by the Hutchinson Foundation, will be for renters who earn less than 65% of the area median income—$61,945 or less for a family of four or $43,333 for a single person. Jessie’s Village has earned $511,700 in grants from the city of Gainesville.
Gainesville native Kindrell Hutchinson started the foundation and named the housing project in honor of his grandmother.
“My grandmother taught me the true meaning of giving back to others,” Hutchinson said in a press release. “Now my goal is to help people in my hometown achieve economic stability through quality affordable housing.”
When will they open? It sounds ideal!
