The Gainesville Police Department made two arrests connected to two separate gun-related incidents that occurred over the weekend.
On Friday, at approximately 7:08PM, GPD officers responded to a call at the 4600 block of NW 8th Avenue (The Cardiac and Vascular Institute).
After arriving to the scene, officers learned that Timothy Williams , 24, a former employee, showed up to the business, demanded to be let inside by pointing a gun at a current employee through a glass door, and threatened to shoot her unless he was let inside.
Williams fled prior to GPD’s arrival.
On Saturday, the GPD located and arrested Williams, charging him with aggravated assault.
On Sunday, at approximately 3:41 AM, GPD officers were dispatched to an armed disturbance at the 4000 block of SW 23rd Street (Countryside Apartments).
After arriving to the scene, officers investigated an incident where the suspect, Nicholas Paleveda, 34, attempted to fire a firearm his roommate. Paleveda surrendered to GPD officers, who then applied for a search warrant and after its approval, located the weapon inside Paleveda’s room. Paleveda was then arrested for aggravated assault.
As GPD continues to respond to the increase in the number of shootings, shots fired, and armed burglaries, these arrests highlight the progress our Department is making in stemming this crime trend from occurring in Gainesville and our surrounding communities.
