COVID-19 cases begin to increase in Florida

A record daily number of 80,000-plus COVID-19 cases were reported in the United States on Friday, Oct. 23rd bringing the total cases in the U.S. to 8.5 million and cases on the rise in 37 states.
 
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, said that as the weather gets cooler and people start gathering indoors more, there will be an uptick in cases. Fauci continues to urge residents to mitigate the spread of the virus by social distancing, wearing face masks and washing hands frequently.
 
As of Oct. 24th here’s a look at COVID-19 cases in Florida with 48,127 deaths and 16,417 hospitalizations according to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard.
Florida state is reporting 776,251 cases with daily cases increasing from Oct 10th (1,564 cases) to Oct. 24th (4,433 cases). To review the state DASHBOARD, go here.
 
According to the Alachua County COVID-19 Recovery Dashboard, the 14-day positivity rate average is 6.1 percent. The positivity rate reported in Alachua County on Oct. 24th is 4.84 percent.
