Dashboards reveal COVID-19 cases rising faster at local and state levels

Florida’s daily report of COVID-19 positive cases for the month of November range from a low of 2,670 daily cases reported on Nov. 1st to 9,928 reported overnight on Nov. 14th.
 
Locally, the Alachua County Public Schools dashboard shows that since Aug. 17th, 161 students and 95 staff have tested positive overall. Three football playoff games were cancelled this week as a result of teams following protocol for COVID-19.
 
Alachua County High Schools have reported the most cumulative positive test results with Gainesville and Newberry high schools topping totals with GHS 29 students and seven staff testing positive and Newberry High with 28 students and six staff positives. Santa Fe High has reported 18 students and one staff positive and Buchholz High has reported 13 students and two staff member positives. 
 
While many elementary schools remain in single digit cases for students and staff since Aug. 17th, Idylwild has reported the most cases with 10 combined (9 students and 1 staff) and Hidden Oak follows with seven staff members and zero students since Aug. 17th.
 
The COVID-19 active cases being reported in the schools district as of Nov. 16th shows Idylwild Elementary currently with the most cases at three students. Oak View Middle school in Newberry where the City Commission has adopted the State emergency order that doesn’t require face mask use, is reporting four active cases with three students and one staff member.
Newberry High School also reports the highest active cases with five students and three staff members as of Nov. 16th.

The Alachua County COVID-19 Recovery Dashboard shows a total positivity rate in the County averaging 4.95 percent with a last two-weeks average positivity rate at 5.5 percent and an increase in the daily positivity rate last reported on Nov. 12th at 6.48 percent. The FDOH reported a statewide positivity rate of 9.95 percent on Nov. 13th up from 7.34 percent on Nov. 11th.
