LifeSouth Community Blood Centers issued an urgent request for type O blood donations on Thursday.

According to Christine Medina, the director of donor recruitment, LifeSouth is in desperate need to supply local hospitals.

“Currently, we have less than a one-day supply of type O blood on our shelves,” said Medina in an email. “Since shortages are also occurring across the country, there is no other blood center that can help us.”
