LifeSouth Community Blood Centers issued an urgent request for type O blood donations on Thursday.
According to Christine Medina, the director of donor recruitment, LifeSouth is in desperate need to supply local hospitals.
“Currently, we have less than a one-day supply of type O blood on our shelves,” said Medina in an email. “Since shortages are also occurring across the country, there is no other blood center that can help us.”
LifeSouth has donor centers located in the following communities:
- Gainesville, 1221 NW 13th St.
- Gainesville, 4039 Newberry Rd.
- Alachua, 15652 NW US Hwy 441, Ste. F
- Chiefland, 2202 N. Young Blvd.
- Jonesville,14266 W. Newberry Rd.
- Lake City, 833 SW State Road 47
