
The UF Health Cancer Center’s community-partnered Cancer Disparities Research Collaborative and its partners are hosting “Power Over Breast Cancer,” a community event focused on empowering women and their loved ones.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Springhill Baptist Church (120 SE Williston Rd.).
At 8:30 a.m., registration will begin and there will be a light breakfast served.
The lectures will start at 9 a.m. Attendees will get to learn about the most effective treatments for breast cancer and ways to prevent late-stage diagnosis. The guest speakers will be Dr. Lisa R. Spiguel the section chief of breast surgery at the UF College of Medicine and Dr. Carolyn Tucker, the director of Cancer Disparities Research Collaborative at the UF Health Cancer Center.
Participants will also share ways to cope and support loved ones throughout treatment. This event provides an opportunity for attendees to learn more about UF Health’s cancer research.
