As cooler weather arrives, UF/IFAS Extension is inviting Floridians to become more active through “Let’s Walk Florida!,” a statewide virtual educational program designed to help participants establish and maintain healthy physical activity habits.
The fall program runs Oct. 5 through Nov. 23 and is open to people of all fitness levels. Although the program is called “Let’s Walk Florida!,” participants do not have to walk to take part. Any intentional physical activity counts, including swimming, biking, dancing and walking.
Registration is available through Eventbrite.
The participation fee is $15. Scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance.
Participants will track minutes of intentional physical activity rather than steps.
Let’s Walk Florida! combines virtual education with local physical activity, allowing participants to take part from wherever they are and at their own fitness level.
Participants receive:
- Weekly health eGuides delivered by email or phone.
- Weekly educational sessions with UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences health educators.
- Access to a virtual community for tracking progress, accountability and support.
- Weekly physical activity challenges.
- Access to a statewide tracking dashboard to monitor progress.
- An official finisher medal and certificate of completion.
- Opportunities to win prizes.
