Watch a COVID-19 test being administered to a local resident at a Gainesville drive-thru site

Yes, the swab inserted into the nasal cavity can be uncomfortable, but for employees dealing with the public face-to-face, first responders and medical personnel, knowing if you are positive with coronavirus is information that can help keep others safe.

Any Alachua County resident interested in getting tested for COVID-19 can do so free of charge… with or without symptoms.

The testing was opened up to anyone on May 3rd according to Paul Myers, Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County.

“If anyone wants to get tested, if they would just call 352-334-8810, we’ll set up an appointment and we’ll get them tested,” he said.

A drive-thru testing site near Depot Park in Gainesville is staffed and ready and has the capacity to administer more than 200 tests daily.
