Community members are invited to join members of the Santa Fe College Police Department (SFPD) and other first responders on Thursday morning for the annual “Run With the Cops.”
The free event, which is in its 10th year, will take place at 9:30 a.m. on the track at SF College’s Northwest Campus (3000 NW 83rd St., Gainesville) and is open to all ages and abilities.
SFPD Lt. Mark Barley, who helps organize the run, said they look forward to bringing the public together for the event every year.
“It’s a unique opportunity for everyone, especially vulnerable populations, to interact with first responders in a positive, engaging and wellness-focused environment,” he said in a press release.
Participants are encouraged to run, walk or roll alongside members of the SFPD and other first responders.
In addition to running, walking or rolling, police and fire rescue vehicles, including specialty and antique units, will also be on display, giving attendees an up-close and personal look at the tools and equipment used in public safety.
Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to learn important safety tips and identify resources “for staying secure in everyday life” and receive information from other community organizations, the release said.
