The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office will host the 2026 Peanut Butter Challenge from Sept. 30 through Oct. 31, collecting unopened jars of peanut butter to help feed people in need throughout Alachua County.
Residents can drop off donations at the UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County office located at 22712 W. Newberry Road in Newberry, according to the UF/IFAS release.
The annual Peanut Butter Challenge supports Florida’s peanut producers while helping local food pantries prepare for the holiday season. At the end of the collection period, counties tally donated jars, compete for bragging rights based on the amount collected, and distribute the peanut butter to local food pantries.
“We thank the Florida Peanut Federation for their continued support and contributions,” said Cindy Sanders, interim director of UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County, in the release. “These associations match our donations to go to local food pantries in Alachua County.”
Community members are encouraged to donate unopened jars of peanut butter during the collection period.
