The Female Protective Society Lodge #10 awarded two $1,000 scholarships for Alachua County high school graduates.
The organization, founded in 1903, selected Ci’ara Jenkins of Gainesville High School for the Female Protective Society Matilda Haile Scholarship. Jenkins began classes at Santa Fe College this summer and plans to study political science and journalism before entering the law profession.
Curtis Phillips IV of Newberry High School received the Norman-Brown & Family Dr. Gloria Irene Clark Scholarship. He will start studying business programming this fall at Santa Fe College with the goal of being a business owner.
