Alachua County will hold a Veterans Day celebration on Monday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Memorial Park in Gainesville.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 7400 SW 41st Place and the community is invited to join in honoring the sacrifice and service of American veterans.
The celebration, hosted by Alachua County Veteran Services, is being held in collaboration with the Alachua County Veterans Memorial Committee, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center and other veteran and nonprofit organizations.
At 9 a.m., the event will start with a breakfast and live music, followed by special activities to recognize and celebrate contributions made by veterans. Alachua County will also hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park to unveil a new inclusive playground and other enhancements.
At 11 a.m., attendees will see a skydiving performance, which will mark the start of the official program that will include:
- Wreath Laying CeremonyÂ
- Flag CeremonyÂ
- Military DisplaysÂ
- Guest SpeakersÂ
- Drill Team DemonstrationsÂ
- Veteran organizations, including the Veterans’ Health Administration, providing information and resources
