Alachua County will premiere “Alachua County Looking Forward,” a 30-minute film exploring the county’s future, on Wednesday, April 2, at the Matheson History Museum in Gainesville.
The screening will take place at 6:30 p.m. at 513 East University Ave. and will feature interviews with local residents based on the county’s 2024 vulnerability analysis.
Attendance is free, but registration is required and can be done by clicking here.
The event will include catering and refreshments provided by Grace To Overcome and conclude with a facilitated group discussion on the county’s future. After the premiere, the film and an online exhibit featuring extended interviews will be available on the Matheson History Museum website.
The film highlights key challenges identified in the vulnerability analysis, including increased flooding, extreme heat, and severe storms, emphasizing the need for proactive planning to protect and enhance the county’s quality of life over the next 200 years.
After the event, the film will be available on the Matheson History Museum website, along with an online exhibit where residents can hear the full interviews from each included resident.
