‘The Alachua Phenomenon’ exhibit to open on Wednesday

The Matheson History Museum will debut its new exhibition, “The Alachua Phenomenon,” exploring the transformation of Alachua County over the last 200 years, starting Wednesday.

The exhibition will delve into the county’s history, highlighting the land, environment, agriculture, industry, education and community that shaped the area into the beating heart of North Central Florida.

The opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free, and attendees can meet the curator and designer, tour the new exhibit and enjoy refreshments.

The museum, located at 513 E University Ave. in Gainesville, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays, with free admission.
