Amazing Give breaks record with $1.3M

North Central Florida residents donated a record $1.35 million to the seventh annual The Amazing Give fundraiser on Thursday.

The Community Foundation of North Central Florida announced the numbers for the online event, which ran from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the total amount raised brings the seven-year total to $7 million. 

The funds support 110 nonprofit organizations throughout North Central Florida with causes that range from animal welfare, education, and mental wellness to arts and culture, the environment, human services, veterans and youth.

On Thursday, Queen of Peace Catholic Academy raised the most money while Operation Catnip received the most individual donations, according to the press release. The other top organizations for total funds raised include the Veterans Scholarship Program, Family Promise of Gainesville, Humane Society of North Central Florida and Grace Marketplace. This year, every single participating nonprofit received at least one donation, an official noted.

According to the release, local businesses Bosshardt Realty and CAMPUS USA Credit Union increased matched employee gifts throughout the day. The event sponsors CPPI, Cade Family Fund, CAMPUS USA Credit Union, Adam Smith Law, Drummond Community Bank, HCA Hospital North Florida Regional, and The Wagmore Foundation assisted with advertising and multiple prizes awarded throughout the day.

The Amazing Give, established in 1998, promotes and sustains philanthropy among the communities of North Central Florida.
