The Fellowship for Performing Arts (FPA) and award-winning actor Max McLean will explore the main influences for three of Clive Staples Lewis’ books through a new theatrical performance at UF’s Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Opening at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, “C.S. Lewis on Stage: Further Up & Further In” is the latest FPA performance about the famed author, known for Christian apologetics and his Chronicles of Narnia series.
The play will touch on Lewis’ conversion from atheism to Christianity, why the BBC gave him a large audience during World War II, how Adolf Hitler influenced “The Screwtape Letters” and how Lewis’ thoughts on heaven and prayer impacted The Chronicles of Narnia.
“When Lewis moved from vigorous debunker to believer, it wasn’t obvious he would become the most influential Christian writer of the past hundred years,” said McLean.
McLean founded the FPA and plays Lewis in the performance, which he wrote.
The show will only have one performance in Gainesville, and tickets are already limited with a few remaining.
