Cinema Verde is hosting an Earth Day celebration weekend starting on Friday and ending on Sunday.  

The weekend will bring attention to conservation and celebrate the work of the environmental filmmakers from the 2023 Cinema Verde Film Festival, which was held in February.  

According to their website, Cinema Verde’s mission is, “to provide environmental education to the public through film, arts, workshops, events, tours and any other forum or media.”

Schedule of events:  

Friday, April 22  

5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Cleanup at Ashley’s Creek (NW 19th Place) 

This event is free, and all supplies will be provided to volunteers. You can RSVP here.  

Saturday, April 23  

4 – 10 p.m. 2023 Cinema Verde festival film at Cypress & Grove Brewing Company (1001 Northwest 4th St.) 

This event is free, but donations are accepted. From 4-7 p.m., there will be a showcase of organizations and vendors. Afterward, there will be a screening of the 2023 Cinema Verde festival films. 

Sunday, April 24  

4-8 p.m. Cinema Verde Awards Dinner at Passions Field (18024 NW CR 235A, Alachua) 

The Cinema Verde Awards Dinner will be held to celebrate the filmmakers who showcased their work during the February Cinema Verde festival. This will be a sustainable dining experience. All tickets purchased come with a subscription to Cinema Verde’s streaming service. Tickets range from $99 for one ticket or $149 for two tickets.
