Cotton Club Museum to host ‘Civil Rights to the Present’ on Saturday

A lecture series called “The Other Book: Black History in Alachua County,” kicks off with its first of four lectures this weekend.

The public is invited to the next event in “The Other Book: Black History in Alachua County” lecture series slated at the Cotton Club Museum and Cultural Center on Saturday, April 12.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon at 837 SE 7th Ave. in Gainesville. Registration is encouraged but not required. To register, visit https://bit.ly/OtherBook. A donation of $5 is suggested per class.

This “Civil Rights to the Present” session will feature Dr. Rik Stevenson alongside local elected officials, including Gainesville Mayor Harvey Ward, Alachua County Commissioner Charles Chestnut, and school board members Tina Certain and Thomas Vu.
