Alachua County will close the Four Creeks Preserve North Trailhead and South Trailhead temporarily for road and trail maintenance activities starting Monday.
According to a release, the closure is expected to remain in effect through March 22, depending on the weather. The Four Creeks Preserve North Trailhead is located at 8400 NW 13th St. and the South Trailhead is at 6845 NW 37th St. in Gainesville.
The public is expected to observe closure signs for safety purposes. Citations will be issued for any unauthorized persons on the trails during this closure. The county will remove all closure signage once the project is completed and will advise the public when the trails reopen.
The Alachua County Forever (ACF) Program actively manages the Four Creeks Preserve. ACF, a voter-approved initiative designed to acquire, improve and manage environmentally sensitive lands to protect wildlife habitat and water resources, and natural areas suitable for resource-based recreation.
The nearby Turkey Creek Preserve trailhead (6300 NW 93rd Avenue, Alachua) remains open for pedestrians and bicycles.
