Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) will open auditions for its 60th anniversary season on Saturday in Gainesville.
The auditions will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Pofahl Studios (1325 NW 2 St.) and the fee will be $25.
DANB Artistic Director Kim Tuttle will be casting for selected roles in DANB’s 2025-2026 productions as well as “The Nutcracker.”
Directors of the student group, Next Generation, will select members for the 2025-2026 company.
DANB welcomes dancers from surrounding counties, studios and gyms. Those auditioning should arrive 30 minutes before the audition in order to complete paperwork and receive their number.
Appropriate apparel includes:
• For girls: black leotard, pink tights, and appropriate shoes with hair up.
• For boys: white t-shirt, black tights, shorts or bicycle pants and appropriate shoes.
• For acrobats: appropriate clothing.
Audition times and roles for ages 7-8 will be from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., for ages 9-10 is 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., for ages 11-13 is 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Ballet experience is required and Audition will be for the upcoming performances of Soldiers, Party Children, Franz’ friends, Mice and Next Generation.
Auditions for ages 11-13 for the second year pointe (as of August) and same age jazz dancers will run from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. and for ages 12-17 for the third pointe (as of August) and same for jazz dancers will run from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.
Auditions will be for Party Children, Franz’s friends, Clara’s friends, Young Adults, Mice, Angels, Snowflakes, Act II corps, DANB & Next Generation.
From 5:30 to 6 p.m., auditions will take place for tumblers ages 7-18. They must be able to do back handsprings, splits, headstands, front and back walkovers and aerial tricks.
