According to an Eastside press release, the play blends folk, jazz, blues and contemporary musical theater. “Hadestown: Teen Edition” follows two intertwined stories: young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and the powerful King Hades and Persephone. When Eurydice is drawn into the underground world of Hadestown, Orpheus risks everything to bring her home.
Featuring a score by Anaïs Mitchell, the production draws on the musical’s Tony Award-winning Broadway legacy to explore timeless themes of love, sacrifice and the power of hope.
Eastside High School’s Thespian Troupe 6380 presents several productions each school year and participates in district and state Thespian competitions.
