Farm Share to distribute in Archer, High Springs

Farm Share will hold its quarterly food distribution in Archer on Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at Maddox Park.

Leighsha Johnson, distribution coordinator for Farm Share, said the drive-thru event services around 300 vehicles, and the nonprofit brings a little bit of everything to give away.

All that’s needed is to sign a form per family. No ID is required.

Johnson said the organization has seen a higher need for food distribution. Gas and food prices have risen, and the pandemic is still hurting workers.

Another factor is the time of year. After the holiday season, household budgets can struggle after stretching to buy gifts in December, according to Johnson.

Farm Share holds distribution events throughout Florida. Each location gets serviced on a different schedule, but all the information is available online.

Besides Archer, Farm Share will have a food distribution at the High Springs Farmers Market on Feb. 5 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Farm Share also operates food pantries throughout the state. Find a list at its website.
