The Florida Museum of Natural History’s Pre-order Plant Sale initiative will offer various plants with its first sale open through Wednesday, June 25.
The order window for the first sale is open until Wednesday, June 25, The plant pick up will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at the UF Cultural Plaza located at SW 34th Street and Hull Road in Gainesville. Pre-order plant quantities are limited, additional species will be available for purchase, along with other museum merchandise, at the Florida Museum’s Pop-Up Gift Shop during the pick-up timeframe.
The plant sale offers a flexible new way for gardeners, entomologists and plant enthusiasts to beautify their homes while providing a habitat for pollinating insects.
Customers can order their plants online and choose from a revolving selection of more than a dozen host, nectar and accent plants. The museum plans to offer these sales throughout the summer, with pick-ups taking place on a bi-weekly basis.
“We wanted to offer folks a new, convenient way to peruse plants to decorate their homes and protect wildlife, all while helping support the museum during our expansion,” said Jaret Daniels, curator for the Florida Museum’s McGuire Center and interim director of exhibits and public programs, in a press release.
