The Florida Museum of Natural History will host its annual “Can You Dig It?” events on Saturday.
The free family-friendly festival – working in collaboration with the UF department of geological sciences — will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum will present demonstrations, displays and activities on fossils, minerals, gems and other attractions from Florida and around the world.
The event is free but admission charges are required for the Butterfly Rainforest and Spiders Alive! exhibits.
“We have been doing the festival since 2007, and it is hugely popular,” said Florida Museum education programs coordinator Catherine Carey in a press release. “As I always say, it is the only time tidal waves and volcanoes are a good thing to have at the museum!”
Visitors are encouraged to grab a “passport” and collect stamps as they explore the groundbreaking work of geologists worldwide. Completed passports can be redeemed for a prize.
