Why Compost Matters

Inedible food scraps are only “waste” when they’re wasted. When composted, they become a valuable resource that enriches soil, supports local gardens, and strengthens our community. Diverting food scraps from the landfill also helps reduce harmful greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.

The event is hosted by O‑Town Compost, Inc.; Gaston Mulch and Soil, LLC; UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County; and Alachua County Master Gardeners
