O-Town Compost will offer free pumpkin composting drop off at nine locations throughout Alachua County starting Monday, Nov. 3.

The service is in collaboration with the city of Gainesville and Alachua County and is an effort to reduce the thousands of pumpkins that end up in landfills, where they produce methane emissions and waste organic material. O-Town Compost will transform the recycled pumpkins into nutrient-rich soil.

Drop-offs will be available from Monday through Thursday, Nov. 10, at the following locations:

• Reserve Park, 700 NE 11^th St., Gainesville, from dawn until dusk
• Possum Creek Park, 4009 NW 53^rd Ave., Gainesville, from dawn until dusk
• TB McPherson Park,1717 SE 15^th St., Gainesville, Monday- Saturday, dawn till dusk, Sunday, dawn till 4 p.m.
• Veterans Memorial Park, 7400 SW 41st PL., Gainesville, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Phifer Rural Collection Center, 11700 SE Hawthorne Rd, Gainesville, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
• Archer Rural Collection Center, 19401 SW Archer Rd, Archer. 7:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
• Fairbanks Rural Collection Center, 9920 NE Waldo Rd., Gainesville, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.
• North Central Rural Collection Center, 10714 N. State Road 121, Gainesville, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Alachua/High Springs Rural Collection Center, 16929 NW US Highway 441, High Springs, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday; 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday.
