The Gainesville Community Band will celebrate its 50th Golden Anniversary Celebration Concert on Sunday at Santa Fe College.
The free performance will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe College Performing Arts Center located at 3000 NW 83rd St. in Gainesville.
Refreshments will be served following the performance.
The Gainesville Community Band was founded in 1974 with 11 members, according to the group’s website. In 1978, the Gainesville City Commission passed a resolution that designated the group as the official community band of Gainesville. The current band consists of 80 members and is comprised of students, physicians, contractors, realtors, professors, scientists, trade persons and retirees.
