The Gainesville Community Playhouse will perform Jonathan Larson’s “Rent,” which opens on Friday, Sept. 19 and will run through Oct. 12.

The show, directed by Sandra Wilcox, will start at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays (starting Sept. 25) through Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sundays at 4039 NW 16th Blvd. Tickets range from $12 to $25.

Jonathan Larson’s “Rent” follows a year in the lives of young artists in New York’s East Village as they navigate love, friendship, creative survival\ and the AIDS crisis. With an iconic rock score—including “Seasons of Love” and “La Vie Bohème”—this Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical celebrates chosen family and the urgency to live “no day but today.”
