The Gainesville Fine Arts Association’s annual Artist Studio Tour will feature 28 artists from Friday through Sunday.
The free event starts at 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16, at the GFAA Gallery located at 1413 S. Main St. in downtown Gainesville with the Kickoff Party, which provides tour goers with an advance meet and greet with the artists, pick up a tour map and see the Hidden Histories exhibit in the gallery. Light refreshments will be served.
The full Artist Studio Tour runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, when artist studios are open to the public. During the tour, you can observe impromptu demonstrations and works in progress right where the artist creates. You can also purchase artwork directly from the artist during the tour.
Once you’re on the tour, look for yard signs that will direct you to each artist’s studio. The map of the tour can be found at www.gfaastudiotour.org as well as all the details of the tour and the artists that are participating.
The 2024 tour attracted nearly 900 visitors to area art studios. Artists reported a significant increase in sales during last year’s tour.
