A speaker event with Goodell and Jane Gilbert, Chief Heat Officer for Miami-Dade County, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Alachua County Headquarters Library (401 E. University Ave., Gainesville) with a reception following from 5 to 7 p.m. at the GFAA Gallery.

GFAA’s press release stated, “The exhibition is curated by Skip Snow, artist and biologist, and Katy Lemle, curator and executive director of GFAA. Guest jurors for selecting works were Goodell, author of The Heat Will Kill You First, and Gilbert, Chief Heat Officer for Miami-Dade County. It includes works from artists all over the country. Works explore the concept of ‘heat’ as it relates to a warming planet: how it impacts our environment, bodies, lifestyles, landscapes and structures.”

GFAA Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
