Gainesville to host Black History Month events

The city of Gainesville will host several events for February’s annual Black History Month starting on Friday.

The list of events includes:

  • Friday, Feb. 3 from 7-9 p.m.: Live and Local concert series presents luminaries in Gainesville’s hip hop scene (Bo Diddley Plaza)
  • Friday, Feb. 3 from 7-10 p.m.: A Celebration of Black Love, Arts and Poetry (Historic Thomas Center)
  • Friday, Feb. 10 from 6:30-9 p.m.: Richard E. Parker Alumni Band (Eastside High School) w/ R&B band 24/7 (Bo Diddley Plaza)
  • Sunday, Feb. 12 from 3-6 p.m.: Smooth Flava Dance Party (Bo Diddley Plaza)
  • Sunday, Feb. 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.: African American Women in Art & Literature (A. Quinn Jones Museum)
