Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Gianna’s Place, a Gainesville nonprofit that provides housing, support and practical resources for students experiencing unplanned pregnancies. The organization’s mission is to help students continue their education while receiving the stability, encouragement and community support needed during a challenging time.

“Many students facing an unplanned pregnancy are trying to balance school, finances, housing, family conversations and uncertainty about the future,” said Susannah Peddie, executive director of Gianna’s Place, in a press release. “Gianna’s Place exists so students know they do not have to face those questions alone. We want students in Gainesville to know that help is available.”

Peddie said the organization currently has rooms available for students in need of housing and support and hopes the fundraiser will both raise critical funds and increase awareness of the services Gianna’s Place provides.

The event’s title sponsor is Merrill Lynch Davis, Westerburg & Associates. Additional support has been provided by numerous local businesses, families and prize donors, including Kendra Scott, Gators Dockside Jonesville, Hawkstone Country Club, Dave Porter Tennis, Alani, Request Physical Therapy, Piesanos, Escapology, Village Jewelers, Malgorzata’s Eclectic Gallery & Boutique, DB Racquet Club, UF Gymnastics, Ilene’s Gator Store, Opus Coffee, Pinspiration, the Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida, Mary Catherine Gilligan, Lucy Aguirre and other community supporters.
