The Gainesville Immigrant Neighbor Inclusion Initiative (GINI) will celebrate the grand opening of its free exhibit, “A Seat at the Table: Food, Poetry and Art,” at the A. Quinn Jones Museum on Sunday.
The free event will from 2–5 p.m. at 1013 NW 7th Ave. in Gainesville, with free transportation available. RSVP to attend at GINI@rwph.org.
The exhibit, “Recipes for Belonging,” highlights events from the past year that brought together immigrant and U.S.-born community members to share meals, stories, and creative expression. Attendees can view photographs from these gatherings, original artwork by local artist Turbado Marabou and community-created pieces.
The event will begin with poetry readings by community members, including an original piece by Alachua County Poet Laureate E. Stanley Richardson. Guests can also enjoy a sampling of dishes from local chefs, representing diverse cultural traditions.
