Two Harry Potter superfans are bringing their trickery to Gainesville’s Big Top Brewing on Thursday night for the first in a series of Harry Potter Trivia nights.
Worthwich School of Wizardy founders Faye Fearless, 32, and Maiko Mushanokoji, 27, went by the book when they developed questions for Harry Potter Trivia nights and they plan to challenge fans with those questions based on the books more so than the movies.
Mushanokoji has a background in engineering and physics and said she is the master writer of the 70 questions that will be asked per round during the event that starts at 7 p.m.
Since 2016 along with trivia events, Worthwich School of Wizardy hosts an annual three-day retreat in Texas each year called the Worthwich Wizarding Weekend and they offer wand making workshops in various states, including one coming up on Jan. 29 at Bivens Arm Nature Park in Gainesville.
“We are both big Harry Potter fans,” Fearless said.
And Mushanokoji added about the school of wizardry, “It’s an immersive themed event for adults where they go for three days, they get sorted into a house and take all of the classes.”
For tonight’s event, Fearless said fans should dress up in Potter garb for the occasion and the event will be capped at 80 people.
“We get through 70 original questions in two hours at each and every event, Fearless said. “At the end of seven rounds, our top two teams face off in an EPIC finale wizard duel.”
Tonight’s contest questions will be based on the “Sorcerer’s Stone” book and movie and next month on Feb 24, the questions are about the “Chamber of Secrets.”
One hour before the quiz game begins there will be a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m.
The trivia founders advise, “Form your team, strategize, and study up on your spells, charms, and enchantments.”
At 7 p.m. Round 1 of trivia begins and, as long as at least one person from your team is there and starts playing, it’s ok if another member of your team needs to arrive later, just be sure to get checked in with your host in between rounds, Fearless said.
Prizes will be awarded in the form of gift cards and exclusive fan badges to the winning team.

And it’s best to bring a wand for the finale duel.
