Science and art will combine at the High Springs Brewing Company on Sunday for a fundraising event for two local organizations—the Swampbots robotics team and the nonprofit Good News Arts.
The event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. and the fundraiser will include hands-on art activities, robot races, live music and food. High Springs Brewing Company is located at 18562 NW 237th St.
The Swampbots teams include students from first through 12th grade, and the students will display and race some of their best robots. Good News Arts will host the art experiences along with a silent auction for five quilts created by students involved in the nonprofit’s summer programs.
Santa Fe High Schooler Trevor Ellis, 15, will provide live music, including southern rock, reggae and county. Ellis plays drums, piano and guitar and appeared on PBS.
Students will sell pizza by the slice from Prohibition Pizza along with kid-friendly drinks.
“Investment in our kids is an investment in our community,” said High Springs City Commissioner Ross Ambrose in a press release. “In just a few years, these two programs have provided solid success for our kids.”
