High Springs to host BMX qualifier

High Springs will be hosting the final round of BMX qualifiers this weekend for the Annual Sunshine State Championship.  

The qualifying race is the last chance for BMX competitors across the state to qualify for the state championship. Which will be held on May 12-13 in Orlando.  

Racers will arrive and setup starts on Friday with races being held on Saturday and Sunday at the High Springs BMX track (19499 NW 238th St.).

The races will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Participants range ages 2-64 from new beginners to elite level professional racers. Anyone with a current USABMX membership can compete in the event.  

The event is free for spectators and parking is $10. There will be food and drink available for sale.  

High Springs BMX hosted its first USABMA Southeast Regional Gold Cup Championships in September.

Schedule:  

Friday, April 28  

Noon – Arrivals and Setup Begins  

2 p.m. – Clinic Begins 

5 p.m. – Practice Begins  

8 p.m. – Practice Ends  

Saturday, April 29  

7:30 a.m. – Practice Begins (by age group)  

11:30 a.m. – Race #1 Starts  

4:30 p.m. – Estimated Race End 

Sunday, Sept 24  

9 a.m. – Race #2 Starts  

2 p.m. – Estimated Race Ends
