The Hippodrome Cinema recently announced its May 2026 film lineup, which includes biographies, musicals, and comedies, among others.
The Hippodrome Cinema has a full slate of films this May, including new releases, a Mother’s Day screening, a special Q&A event, Cocktails & Classics and a full Hipp Pride lineup. Tickets and full showtimes can be found by clicking here.
The Hippodrome Cinema is located at 25 SE 2nd Place in Gainesville.
The May schedule includes:
- Walk the Line: The iconic biographical drama following the legendary Johnny Cash, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
- Father Mother Sister Brother: A moving and darkly comedic family drama starring Adam Driver. Screening May 7–24.
- Mother Mary: Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel star in this powerful story of an iconic pop star reuniting with her estranged best friend on the eve of her comeback performance. Screening May 14–31.
- Mamma Mia! (Mother’s Day Screening) Celebrate Mom with this beloved musical feel-good classic featuring the songs of ABBA. Screening Sunday, May 10 at 2 p.m.
- Tom Miller’s Audience (Q&A After Screening) A special screening followed by a live Q&A. Screening Saturday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m.
- Cocktails & Classics: Viva Las Vegas: In support of our mainstage production of Million Dollar Quartet, Elvis Presley’s classic Las Vegas romp returns to the big screen. Cocktail included with every ticket purchase. Screening Saturday, May 23 at 8:30 p.m.
- Hipp Pride — Paris is Burning : The groundbreaking documentary celebrating New York’s ballroom culture. Screening May 29–31.
- Hipp Pride — Portrait of a Lady on Fire — The breathtaking French romantic drama returns to the big screen. Screening Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m.
- Hipp Pride — To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar: The beloved drag comedy classic starring Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo and Patrick Swayze. Screening Saturday, May 30 at 8:30 p.m.
