With no prep time, Stephanie Lynge will open her script on stage and perform.
The theatrical experiment—White Rabbit, Red Rabbit—will happen at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at the Hippodrome Theater (25 SE 2nd Place in Gainesville). Lynge serves as artistic director at the Hippodrome.
Theatres worldwide will host the same production to celebrate the survival of theatre through the pandemic, according to a press release.
“The play is written in such a way that the actor performing it will see the script for the first time on stage, with no rehearsals or preparation beforehand,” the press release said. “It’s a unique concept that challenges both the performer and the audience and creates a thrilling and unpredictable experience.”
Nassim Soleimanpour of Iran wrote the play, and since its premiere in 2011, “White Rabbit, Red Rabbit” has taken the stage across the world, traveling even as Soleimanpour remained restricted to Iran.
