It’s true: Free doughnut with vaccine proof at Krispy Kreme

On Monday, the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. announced that it was finding a way to be sweet by giving a free glazed doughnut to anyone who gets a COVID-19 vaccine.

On Tuesday, Nicole Horton and her mother, Donna Jacquart, of Wisconsin stopped by the Krispy Kreme on NW 13th Street in Gainesville to see if they could get that free doughnut.

“We heard it on ABC News,” said Horton, who is in town to visit a UF student relative. “So I googled it to make sure it was real.”

Krispy Kreme General Manager Courtney Russell said plenty of people are coming to get their free doughnut with their vaccine cards in hand.

She added that not just those vaccinated are able to get a free glazed doughnut.

“Every Monday, anyone can stop in and get a free glazed doughnut and a medium coffee, no questions asked,” she said.

“We’ve seen a lot of people come in,” Russell said, adding that she is sure they won’t run out of any supplies. “We make doughnuts 24-7, so we aren’t ever going to run out.”

According to the Krispy Kreme announcement, any of the three approved COVID-19 vaccines will work—and if you’ve only had your first shot of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, that’s OK. Just show your COVID-19 vaccination record card to redeem the offer and the staff hands over a glazed doughnut.

Individuals who request the offer are limited to one glazed doughnut per day to be picked up in person with no purchase required. The “Covid-19 Vaccine Offer” is valid through Dec. 31, 2021.
