The Matheson History Museum will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a Sock Hop on Saturday, an event that hearkens back to the days of Teen Time and high school dances in the Museum building.
The event is slated from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 at the Matheson (513 E. University Ave., Gainesville).
The evening will include live music and dancing. The event also is to celebrate the opening of our newest exhibition: “Weaving a Community: 30 Years of the Matheson History Museum.” The exhibition takes an all-encompassing view of Matheson’s history and its origins.
Catering will be provided by Hill’s BBQ. The food will be cooked fresh on site and will include hamburgers, hot dogs, onion rings and more. Mix Maven Mobile Bartending will be providing wine, beer and a signature cocktail.
Tickets are on sale for $30 for the general public, and $25 for Matheson members and can be purchased on the website.
