The Matheson History Museum will be hosting Lizzie Jenkins as she shares about her children’s book, “Lizzie’s Rosewood Race.”  

The book discussion and signing will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, at the Matheson History Museum (513 East University Ave.). The event is free to attend but registration is required.  

The book follows Jenkins as she learns the history of the 1923 Rosewood Massacre from her mother and is inspired to share the story with others. Jenkins’ aunt, Mahulda Gussie Brown Carrier, was a schoolteacher in Rosewood and survived the massacre. 

Jenkins has amassed over 30 years of Rosewood research. She has authored and published books on the histories of Rosewood, Alachua County, and Archer, Florida. She speaks at colleges, universities, K-12 schools, churches, and community organizations statewide. Jenkins also founded the Real Rosewood Foundation in 2003.
