The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will be hosting a public meeting next Tuesday to provide Orange Lake conditions and input on future hydrilla management.
The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 15 at the Grand Lake RV and Gold Resort at 18545 45th Ave. in Citra.
FWC staff will provide an update on Orange Lake’s current conditions and gather stakeholder input into the lake’s future hydrilla management plan.
For people unable to attend in person, following the meeting the FWC presentation will be posted to the Orange Creek Basin Interagency Working Group webpage.
For questions regarding this meeting, contact Allen Martin, FWC Regional Freshwater Fisheries Administrator, at 386-623-1836.
On Saturday, the Alachua County Florida Department of Health (FDOH) issued an algae alert at Orange Lake. This comes a month after the death of more than two dozen reptiles in Orange Lake on Feb. 10 after they were hit by an aquatic vegetation shredder.
