Stuntman backflips motorcycle over Branford bar (video)

“Holy sketchiness! It’s going downhill,” motorcycle stuntman Trevor Cartmill said while standing on the rooftop of Sturge’s lounge at Ellie Ray’s RV Resort in Branford on Saturday.

“I want to be able to see the tip of the landing if at all possible,” Cartmill said about the blind jump measuring 75 feet.

“The ramp is flush with the roof,” he added as he joked about pulling the plug on the stunt.

But after he talked it through with the man in charge of setting up the ramps, Travis Willis, owner of Trenton-based Team FMX, it was a go.

The crowd of about 75-100 gathered and cheered Cartmill on as he jumped over and over again, adding some let-gos and even a full flip over the bar.

Cartmill posted an edited, four-minute video to Instagram showing the setup and about 10 jumps featuring various tricks.

The event was part of last weekend’s 9th Annual Sturge’s Biker Rodeo.

Nick Sturgeon, manager of Ellie Ray’s RV Resort, told Mainstreet Daily News his aim was to give members of the community more entertainment options. He said the weekend was a success.

“It was awesome! Everyone enjoyed it and taking pictures and swarmed the jumper after the fact,” Sturgeon wrote in an email. “Whoever didn’t show up definitely missed out.”
