Tour de Felasco returns Saturday

The 19th annual Tour de Felasco returns this Saturday at the San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park following a one-year hiatus.

Hosted by The Friends of San Felasco, the mountain bike ride will have a rolling start between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. at the park’s north trailhead, located at 13201 San Felasco Parkway in Alachua.

According to the Friends of San Felasco press release, the Tour is not a race, but it is an endurance event throughout a series of trails covering a distance of 50 miles that includes rolling hills, short climbs, sinkholes, creek crossings, and log bridges. Riders will experience areas of the park open to bikes only for the Tour.

First held in 2003, the Tour returns in 2022 after a one-year absence. The Tour is the primary fundraiser for the Friends of San Felasco, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the state park.

Designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1974, San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park is a 7,360-acre preserve with one of the few remaining mature forests in Florida.
