Valentine’s Day fast approaches and dinner reservations are sure to fill up fast. Here are five great local options for a dinner date with your special someone.
MediCi The Neapolitan Pizza Company
While pizza might not sound like the typical dinner date, MediCi is offering a special pizza making class for V-Day.
For $125 per couple, the class teaches the art of stretching dough and includes a look at the company’s baking ovens imported from Italy. Tickets include one entree per person, wine tasting and a personal bottle per couple.
MediCi’s Valentine’s Day special requires tickets with three available windows at 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Located just across from Regal Cinema in Celebration Pointe, the pizza might pair well with a movie like “Death on the Nile,” the new murder mystery being adapted from Agatha Christie’s novel.
The Great Outdoors Restaurant
Like the name suggests, The Great Outdoors Restaurant features a variety of carnivorous options, and for Valentine’s Day the High Springs staple will offer a five course meal special at $79.99 a person.
Pick your soup, salad, appetizer, entree and dessert, and then help your partner finish theirs off, too.

Dragonfly Sushi and Saki Company
With its “Impress Your Date” menu, you might do just that. The menu offers Miso Black Cod, Beef Tataki and “The Bomb.”
You can find the menu online and the restaurant downtown near the Hippodrome Theater.
Amelia’s Italian Restaurant
Constantly ranked near the top of Gainesville’s restaurants, Amelia’s provides a more classic Valentine’s Day dinner, from Manicotti al Forno to other Italian dishes you can’t pronounce, like Capellini Puttanesca.
Amelian’s is located downtown and has served the Gainesville area for more than 20 years. Find their menu and make reservations at their website.
