On the second Sunday in May each year, millions of Americans gather to celebrate Mother’s Day.
This weekend, the local community is offering special events and discounts for moms.

U-Pick Flowers at Mother’s Day
On Saturday and Sunday at The Bryer Patch (5700 SW 250th St., Newberry) from 2 p.m. – Sundown
There will be sunflowers, zinnias and wildflowers to pick. Amby’s BBQ will be serving food. There will be photo opportunities, hayrides, and craft vendors. Admission is $5 per person and free for children under 3.
Mother’s Day at Kanapaha Gardens
Sunday at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens (4700 SW 58th Drive, Gainesville) from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Mothers of all ages get free admission into Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. The gardens are a 68-acre facility. Kanapaha boasts the state’s largest public display of bamboo and the largest herb garden in the southeast. Admission for other guests is free for 3 and under, $5 for 4-13, and adults are $10.
Muffins and Mimosas Art Market
Sunday at Artisans Guild Gallery (224 NW 2nd Ave., Gainesville) from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
There will be local artists and live music. Peruse art and antiques as well. Homemade muffins and mimosas will be offered.
Kulaqua River Ranch Water Park – Free Admission for Mothers
Sunday at Kulaqua River Ranch Water Park (23400 NW 212th Ave., High Springs) from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Mothers get free admission with a paying guest. The park requests that modest swimsuits be worn. River Ranch features water and land activities including a 15,000-square-foot wave pool, 600-foot lazy river, water slide and volleyball courts. Admission for other guests is $16.50.
Mothers eat free at The Swamp Restaurant
Sunday at The Swamp Restaurant (1104 SW 2nd Ave., Gainesville) from 10 a.m. -3 p.m.
The Swamp Restaurant will be offering a special Mother’s Day brunch menu. Mothers will eat for free.
Mother’s Day Concert
Sunday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (500 NE 16th Ave., Gainesville) at 3 p.m.
The Gainesville Community Band will perform its last concert of the season for a celebration of Mother’s Day. The concert is free and open to the public.
