David Hastings, a member of Gainesville Quakers, said he heard Lakey give a workshop in college about social change.

“It’s really important for those of us working for social justice to understand what works and what doesn’t,” Hastings said.

Lakey has written several other books including “Viking Economics,” “How We Win,” and “Toward a Living Revolution.”

In a press release, Bill McKibben, leader of climate group 350.org, called the book inspiring and illuminating.

“Almost no one I can think of has made better use of their time on earth,” McKibben said of Lakey.
