Peaceful Paths will host its inaugural “Strength in Strides Domestic Violence Awareness Walk” on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Bo Diddley Plaza in Gainesville.
The event will start with a check-in at 2 p.m., a program at 2:45 p.m., the walk at 3:15 p.m., and the event will conclude at 5 p.m. The walk is free, but registration is required by clicking on this link.
The walk, which will be around Downtown Gainesville, looks to raise awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence and involve the community in supporting survivors in the local area.
Domestic violence affects more than 12 million people a year in the U.S., with over one in three women and one in four men having experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
This year, Peaceful Paths has provided services to over 1,100 survivors and their children through residential and outreach programs, demonstrating that domestic violence continues to seriously impact Alachua, Bradford and Union counties.
